The Interscenario International Screenplay Festival takes place during autumn of every year at the Wytwórnia Filmów Fabularnych in Wrocław. Its objective is to create in Poland a space for screenplay writers and film screenplay to come into being on a world scale – a place that makes an open Inter-Scenario dialogue possible, namely a dialogue between scriptwriters and film producers, and also between film professionals and the recipients of their creativity i.e. the viewing public. The unique formula of this event allows every participant, regardless of his/her degree of knowledge of the treated subject, to experience unforgettable moments, and acquire valuable information and skills. For the professionals in this line of business, it’s an opportunity to discuss openly, to consolidate relations, and to exchange experience, whereas for the young budding scriptwriters – it provides an unforgettable chance to receive the support and advice of professionals as well as the assessment of their work to date.

As for the viewers and participants not involved with the film industry, the Festival will promote the understanding of the profession and of the arcana of the screenplay writing craft. Consequently, the Festival is intended to do away with a stereotypical way of identifying film solely with director and actors as well as to create an image of the scriptwriting craft as one of the key professions in film industry.

INTERSCENARIO as an idea functions on two planes:

• I.

  The Festival –a screenplay writers’ celebration and culmination of their annual creative effort. Among the Festival’s attractions we present:

  • Film screenings Each showing will be preceded by a meeting between the creators of the work and the audience; they will explain the background of the individual films, will answer questions, and take part in short debates on chosen subjects. Entry to all the screenings is free.

  • Professional scriptwriting workshops , led by outstanding film authors as well as the Festival’s guests of honour. The number of spots is limited; entry is by festival pass or by tickets to individual workshops.

  • Meetings with authors . The Festival guests of honour will meet up with cinema lovers during open talks and will participate in panel discussions with the public. The Festival pass is de rigueur.

  • Music Scene and the art of word scene . Every day of the Festival concludes with a concert in the Great Auditorium at the WFF. For the duration of the Festival, the Great Auditorium undergoes a transformation into so-called open space which will host a Festival club, a stage and a large space for the audience. All the events taking place in the Great Auditorium are open to the public/free entry.

• II.

  The contest for the best feature film screenplay . The contest has an open formula and calls for an international competition of professional and non-professional screenplay writers. The main award is presented during the Final Gala Event.
