Manifesto Interscenario®2008-11-26 In today’s world where the media (press, radio, television) deal with reality and most of all with the present time, words, and especially the written word, mean increasingly more. They carry the PROMISE of good literature, film, theatre, a promise of commune with high culture. They are the “beginning” of this age-old pact between the world of spectators and the world that is represented to them. We live, in the words of a cyberpunk poet Hakim Bay, in the world of great performance. It becomes increasingly difficult to get any rest from it. Paradoxically, a relatively easy way of taking a temporary break from reality is offered by various forms of art, including cinema. Thanks to that, for a prescribed amount of time we can exist in a different physical and spiritual space.

We propose to create, for the duration of the Festival, a temporary autonomous zone in which all those writing for film along with its creators, in the large sense of the word, will have an opportunity to meet in the atmosphere of a celebration of cinema.

We already know quite a bit about ourselves. Films, especially during communism, were very helpful for maintaining a certain level of consciousness. Does film have anything else to say today in this very different environment?

With great pleasure we present this year’s scriptwriting phenomena from the neighbouring countries. We will witness what can be seen and heard on the screens of our neighbours. Let’s try to find a language (of a scriptwriting or cinematic type) with which to communicate with them and with the rest of the world. A lot depends on how we see each other, what we know of each other, how is our imagination doing, whether there are creations of our mind that are able to enchant the audience.
